This password field allows students to bypass the use of a webcam for exams using Respondus Monitor.

The LockDown Browser installation link will direct the student to the Chrome web store, at which point they should select “Add to Chrome” to install the LockDown Browser Extension. Students will NOT be able to search for the app directly from the Chrome web store.

They will then download the link to install the chrome extension.

They can do this by logging in to Blackboard and clicking the Respondus LockDown Browser/Respondus Monitor link on the Institutions Page under “Helpful Links.” The Respondus Monitor optional password field is supported. The website also lists specific methods such as: Assessments are displayed full-screen and cannot be minimized. According to their website, the Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system.

Students will need to download and install the chrome extension of Respondus LockDown Browser. The most used lockdown browser is the one designed by Respondus. Students can follow the Student Instructions for iPads. Students will need to download the iPad Edition of “LockDown Browser” (available from the Apple App Store). The instructor must grant permission to use iPads in the advanced settings when deploying exams that use Respondus LockDown Browser and/or Monitor. Respondus LockDown Browser has settings that allow both iPad and Chromebook users to take LockDown Browser and Monitor exams.
